This was one of the first songs I wrote after my dating relationship with a great friend ended. I was bitter, upset, and any other depressing word you can think of. By the second verse, I hoped to bring a bit of closure to the rough ending of the relationship by admitting my shortcomings. I acknowledged that the Summer had come, and it's now a new season.
To end the song, I took the piano and vocal part of an older song entitled "Sunrise" and added it to symbolically finish off the song.
(I was going to say that "Spring" was approaching after Summer but my roommate Sam informed me that Fall comes after Summer... geometry, geography... tomàto, tomáto)
lyrics
I'm finding it hard to see
How I can believe
This will ever be okay
She had all my trust
Now it fades to the dust
All the times we would say
"I miss you. I love you"
Was it ever even true
I need you to know
That I don't even know
If you're listening now I'm sorry
For anything I've done
For being in such a hurry
I know that we were young
It's Summer now (Summer now, Summer now)
It's Summer now and I
I know that times will pass us by
It's too late to cry and I
don't know why our love died
It's Summer now and I
I know that times will pass us by
It's too late to cry and I
don't know why our love died
But I'll say goodnight
